Dr Kristian Coomaraswamy (Kris Coomar)

Dr. Kris Coomar is a broadly experienced paediatric dentist registered in Australia and the UK. Kris attained his dental degree from the University of Wales College of Medicine (UK) in 1999. He subsequently worked for several years at Cardiff Dental Hospital (in various dental specialties) prior to working in general dental practice, the community dental service, and an outreach teaching clinic (training undergraduate dental students) in South Wales (UK).

Kris moved to England in 2005 where he joined the University of Birmingham as a clinical lecturer in paediatric dentistry. He completed his specialist training in paediatric dentistry in 2009 and became an academic consultant at Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2012. Kris also completed a PhD in 2016.

 

Over the years, Kris has been involved with the training of dental nurses, dental therapists, undergraduate dentists, and postgraduate trainees in paediatric dentistry. Kris also regularly delivered postgraduate lectures and hands-on courses during his time in the UK and has a keen interest in the teaching of paediatric dentistry.

Kris moved back to Melbourne at the end of 2016 and spent a year working as a specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne. He now splits his time between private practice, working as a specialist at the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne, and supporting the postgraduate teaching of paediatric dentistry.
